Meta Box Revision Extension is an official add-on of the Meta Box ecosystem that extends WordPress's native revision system to include custom fields. While WordPress by default only records changes to the title and content of posts, this extension allows complete tracking of all modifications made to custom fields created with Meta Box.

The extension is aimed at developers and website administrators who manage complex content using custom fields and need to maintain a reliable history of every change. It is especially useful on sites with multiple editors or content teams, where it is essential to know who modified what data and when, as well as to be able to revert any unwanted changes.

Its operation is simple and transparent: when you enable revision support in a meta box's settings (by adding 'revision' => true), the extension automatically copies the values of custom fields to each new revision that WordPress generates. On the revision comparison screen, changes appear clearly highlighted, showing added or removed lines and words. For fields with structured values, such as cloneable fields or groups, the data is displayed in JSON format, allowing you to view both the structure and the actual content of each value.

In addition to visual comparison, the extension allows you to restore previous revisions with a single click. When restoring, the values of the custom fields are copied from the selected revision to the original post, ensuring that the content returns to its previous state completely and accurately.

The extension is compatible with all Meta Box field types, including groups through integration with MB Group, and works for both standard posts and custom post types. It is important to note that, since WordPress only supports revisions for posts and custom post types, the extension does not apply to term, user, or settings page metadata.
